Learn how to use your Fire Extinguisher before you have a fire. Imagine trying to read directions while a fire is roaring... REMEMBER these 4 easy steps P.A.S.S. P #1 Pull the Pin at the top of the extinguisher. The pin releases a locking mechanism and will allow you to discharge the extinguisher. A #2. Aim at the base of the fire, not the flames. This is important - in order to put out the fire, you must extinguish the fuel. S #3. Squeeze the lever slowly. This will release the extinguishing agent in the extinguisher. If the handle is released, the discharge will stop. S #4. Sweep from side to side. Using a sweeping motion, move the fire extinguisher back and forth until the fire is completely out. Operate the extinguisher from a safe distance, several feet away, and then move towards the fire once it starts to diminish. Be sure to read the instructions on your fire extinguisher - different fire extinguishers recommend operating them from different distances. ***Remember: Aim at the base of the fire, not at the flames!!!! Thanks for helping me understand that we should make sure that we use a sweeping motion for the fire extinguisher. I will keep that in mind if ever I need to use them. For now, I plan to buy one for our personal use because we live in an area where there are wildfires happening at times.

I found it interesting when you said to move the fire extinguisher back and forth in a sweeping manner until the fire is entirely extinguished. I used to think differently about it not until you explained it briefly and it really got my attention. What you said about fire extinguishers was really interesting to me.

I appreciate you adding instruction here on how to use a fire extinguisher, especially on the last when you said to use the extinguisher from a safe distance, several feet away. We are looking at having fire extinguishers all over our property to ensure our safety. I guess it's best to look for a fire extinguisher service that also provides coaching on how to use it.
