What you need to know....

**BUSINESS OWNERS BEWARE!
There is a practice out there that other fire extinguisher service companies think is not Bad Business ethics and practice, but EFR Fire & Safety does not take part in it or believe in these types of unprofessional business tactics.
When EFR Fire & Safety inspects and certifies your fire extinguishers each year, you are paying for an entire year to the month that we have marked on the EFR certification tag attached to your fire extinguisher.  EFR Fire & Safety technicians are courteous, informative and honest.  We take the time to answer your questions, explain any work that needs to be done before the work is performed and we give our customers all of the available options according to the local fire safety codes.

Knowing when your fire extinguisher tag expires and needs to be serviced by a licensed technician is important.  Here's why...............
Every year, thousands of Chicagoland business owners are being cheated this way by companies that claim to be their "Fire Extinguisher Inspector".  These fire extinguisher companies come in and insinuated to an employee or owner that they are there to inspect their Fire Extinguishers and then proceed to do work that is not necessary and charge the owner of the business.  Many times these tactics are not even questioned, but guess what? The tags were not expired and the Owner did not know.   This means that you the customer did not get your money's worth of the service you received in the previous year.  The certification tag on a Fire Extinguisher lists the months of the year across the bottom of the tag and our service technician marks the month that the fire extinguisher was certified and it is certified for the entire year and month that the tag is punched for.  It is similar to the expiration of a registration sticker on your vehicle's license plate. It does not need to be certified until the month that is clearly marked on the tag.  However, just as you would bring your vehicle in to be checked and serviced throughout the year and fill the tank when you use the gas, you do need to inspect your own fire safety equipment throughout the year to be sure it has not been tampered with, used and will work in case of a fire. If you do notice anything that has been tampered with, then you need to call us and ask for a licensed fire extinguisher technician to service the extinguisher.  EFR Fire & Safety has been serving Chicago and the surrounding suburbs for over 40 years and we take pride in helping keep communities safe through fire safety.

How can you stop this from happening?
Be informed as the business owner and give your employees clear instructions on how to handle this situation if it happens to them..

INSTRUCT your employees not to give any company that walks through the door permission to service your fire extinguishers.  Instead, direct them to get the person's company information, like leaving a business card that can be given to you the owner.  Next, look at the Fire Extinguisher Tags and check the name of your current Fire Extinguisher Service Company.  If it is not the same name and phone number, call your company and ask if your Fire Extinguishers are due for annual certification or check the month and year on your fire extinguisher certification tag.  Remember just because the tag on your fire extinguisher shows the previous year, it does not mean that it has expired until the month that the tag was put on the unit.

What Our Clients Are Saying

"These guys really help you with your fire extinguisher and emergency light issues. So I found them online and called and talked to the owner not a answering service or automated phone thing, then a service guy came and explained a lot of safety tips with me and stuff I didn't ever think of, so the fire inspector from the city fire department came to check out my fire equipment was impressed with how fast I got the EFR service company to take care of my fire extinguisher inspection. I am happy with the price." Mike P. Orland Park
